Our 3 Strand Chord of Service
The strength found in a 3 strand chord was the foundation of our services we
will be providing to Unaccompanied Youth.
STRAND 1: BASIC LIVING NEEDS
- Food, clothing, shelter assistance-providing meals, gift cards, rides to appointments, or funds for living arrangements
- Laundry Assistance- taking students to Laundromats to get laundry done
- Social Service Buddy Program- assisting students with the process of seeking help from county and state services
STRAND 2: EDUCATIONAL GOALS
- School Supplies and Fees- assisting students with additional supplies and funding for special course fees.
- Extra-curricular Fund- A program to give every homeless teen the opportunity to take part in extra-curricular activity by providing the appropriate supplies needed (ex: cleats for football)
- Tutoring Services- Giving assistance in specific classes that extra help may be needed.
- Further Education Assistance- Assisting students interested in college or tech schools with filling out applications and paying fees, financial aide applications, ACT fees, and scholarship fees
STRAND 3: PERSONAL and SPIRITUAL GROWTH
- Weekly group support Meals- A group meal giving them a chance to trust and be valued in a safe environment. They can be informed and build trust with one another.
- Personal Mentoring- Finding mentors that will build a relationship of trust, value, and encouragement;
- Laugh and Learn- events that will be fun for our students that will also teach them life skills and social skills. (ex: enjoying a meal at a nice restaurant, going to a college basketball game)
- Good Samaritan Lifts- Inviting or giving rides to church, youth groups, or other events that we are interested in or sponsoring.
